| VELOGRAPHY While not exploring the world, Claude Marthaler is living so far in Geneva where he is born in 1960. He starts to travel on two wheels by adolescence, through the countries of south Europe, till Morocco or Turkey. In 1988, he rides towards the Himalayas, attracted by the montains which are also his passion, and come back only three years later. In 1994, Claude Marthaler leaves Switzerland heading to Japan. His bicycle, knicknamed « The yak », which has the passion to move a long way round, takes an other decision. At the song of his wheels, he’ll travel through the Americas, from the north to the south before reaching Europe with a last loop : the african continent. His journey has last out seven years (www.redfish.com/yak). |

Since the 16th of june 2001, date of his arrival, his passion has become his profession. He is on tour, presenting his slide-show and published two books. After a while, his yak caught him again and brought him to indian himalaya, to Bolivia and from Geneva to St-Petersbourg. Today, in 2005, he spent a quarter of his life on a bicycle. Between the tour of his district and his worldtour, he still keep the spirit of discovery. Claude Marthaler will leave Geneva in october, with Nathalie Pellegrinelli, for a long journey on two wheels. Follow their traces typing on : « On the road ». |
